Darla has been gone a week
Darla is half way through her trial foster to adopt period and so far her new foster family reports that she is doing well and settling in. She seems to have a bad habit of jumping up on people and on COUNTERS! Hopefully that can be trained out quickly, she is a smart girl!

Busy Week
Darla was spayed on Tuesday along with her buddy, Sully. If it bothered her, she never let on! She is SO SMART and SO INTENSE. She catches on to things very quickly and has learned everything we have taught so far. With so many other foster dogs here, we are obviously only covering the basics. But she definitely stands out from the crowd in the training arena.Today Darla attended the Forgotten Friends- Mixed Breed Rescue Meet & Greet and many people stopped to pet her. She was relaxed and calm throughout the event-- perfect behavior, as usual. It has been really fun for us to get to know the GSD-side of Darla. Very Impressive!!!

Ring the Bell!
Darla is the first dog to seem to understand the Poochie Bells. Good Girl, Darla!!
She and Luci played today, and so did she and Sully... and then she and Cupcake. She seems to be one of those dogs who can hold a pack together. We're so glad she came to stay with us for a while.

Welcome Darla!

Precious Darla joined our busy foster home yesterday and fit right in. She is just the right size and age for Sully and Cocoa and really enjoys playing with them. She is very gentle and playful, yet she is surprisingly assertive with our usually-dominant resident 2 year old Aussie, Luci. "Don't boss me around!" she seems to tell her.She is a very smart cookie... she knows and responds to her name and she was doing her "sit!" after a single training session. Too cold and wet today to do much leash work, but she walked very prettily on her lead to the car this afternoon and we will update that as time goes by. She is adapting easily to her housebreaking schedule-- no accidents at all this first 24 hours! It took her a while to settle down in her crate in our bedroom last night, but once she did she slept all night. We started her on Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish food and she is an enthusiastic eater. She received the requisite Mud Puppies treatment (bath with blow dry & brushing, ears & eyes wiped, nails trimmed, and teeth brushed). What a pretty girl!!
All in all, a very easy transition for this sweet girl.
